Site Automation Manager (#14625)
 
Candidate Requirements
  • Immediate relocation to Kearl Oilsands (KOSP) Project in Ft. McMurray for a minimum of 12 months (Camp accommodations, meals and transportation provided). May mobilize to home office for a short duration.
  • Minimum 2 years Post Secondary education (4 years preferred with completion of IT certification)
  • Minimum 2 to 10 years experience on an EPC construction site
  • Minimum 2 year technical diploma/degree in IT/Automation related field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to change
  • Strong leadership skills to promote positive team environment
  • Strong organization and communication (verbal and written) skills
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Site Automation Manager (SAM) is a point of contact for the site, managing the information technology and information/data management requirements for the site team. The SAM is charged with maximizing the efficiency of the site team and achieving the project goals through the use of information technology tools and methods.
 
The SAM performs their duties within the framework of project specific requirements, project automation budget and schedule, and the plans and procedures established in the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Project Procedure Manual (PPM). The SAM is directly accountable to the Construction Manager (CM) in performing site related duties but is also accountable to the PIM regarding automation issues to support the overall project objectives. The SAM is also accountable to ensure uniformity of execution within Fluors' Operating System Requirements (OSR).
 
The SAM ensures all Project Automation and IT requirements for the site is met.
 
KEY FUNCTIONS managed by SAM are:
  • Manage the IT implementation and de/mobilization of the site
  • Implement and manage any software or technology licensing issues at site
  • Management of IT resources (hardware/software) including inventory control, deployment, and handling between Home Office/Construction Office and suppliers.
  • Responsible for ensuring the proper and adequate IT and/or Automation related resources are available to be assigned for servicing of the CO Taskforce and performing the work as specified. This may include some of the following, but not limited to:
    • Site 2D/3D Coordination such as PDS/MicroStation/AutoCAD
    • Support of all identified applications and systems identified in the PEP
    • Coordinate Design Reviews
    • Technology Implementation and Development
    • Database administration
    • Information Technology support functions, project dedicated and out-sourced
    • Construction site network operations and office automation activities
    • Ensure the consistent execution of integration between project applications (Home office, site, partners, vendors, clients or others)
  • Provide metrics, reporting and feedback to site management and the PIM pertaining to effectiveness of automation tools, cost, inventory and support or any other item deemed necessary by the construction manager or the client.
 
KEY ACTIVITIES:
The SAM works as a member of the site management team to promote the consistent implementation and support of IT operations and the effective use of application technology. The key activities for which the SAM is responsible are:
  • Coordination of the delivery of services to support the network server and backup facilities. Including management of the backup and recovery process, data archiving. Environment includes (but not limited to):
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    • Oracle and SQL databases
    • Lotus Notes R6 Database Support
    • Ethernet, CAT5, cabling
    • Cisco LAN/WAN equipment
    • Desktop, laptop and workstation Hardware support
    • Desktop application support (MS Office, Visio, Adobe, etc.)
    • Communications (PBX, Data, etc.)
  • Manage hardware and software assets, installations and effective continuous operations and supply documentation as required
  • Manage login security, and ensure data integrity is not compromised
  • Initial Troubleshooting of IT problems at site and coordinate with Fluor IT for resolution.
  • Support any required expansion of network services for site locations where construction personnel will be based, including wiring, provision of network hardware and remote access.
  • Ensure the delivery of support from the Enterprise HelpDesk for Fluor standard desktop applications, including the escalation of issues where resolution is unsatisfactory or not timely.
  • Coordinate with client representatives for the provision remote access to client network and general desktop support.
  • Acts as a point of contact for the site on all automation/IT requirements with coordination with the Home Office Project Information Manager (PIM)
  • Ensure coordination, and support is provided for communications to the home office locations, other sites, project offices, client, contractors, and vendors.
  • Work with the Enterprise Help Desk and Fluor IT for the delivery of technical services supporting the IT infrastructure.
  • Major deployment of IT infrastructure, such as installation of the network infrastructure or server deployment, will be performed by Fluor IT Technical staff or a designated local agent under the direction of the Project Automation Manager.
  • Identify any additional LAN/WAN/Networking and computing requirements for the site.
  • Ensure compliance with any software or technology-licensing issues when Fluor is required to provide technology access for clients or partners.
  • Facilitate site demobilization and final closeout activities. Work with Site Management and the PIM to deliver the project's final electronic deliverables.
