Position Outline
There are 3 co-op student positions available in January 2010 within Mine Equipment Maintenance - Planning, Scheduling & Business Support. This position is intended to expose students to different aspects of the Mine Equipment Maintenance world while providing them with an opportunity to experience the dynamic nature of an operating environment.
Duties include:
- Learning what maintenance planning and scheduling is and how to apply it in the life cycle of operating equipment. Apply this knowledge to routine maintenance requests.
- Conceptualize, design, and implement required tooling for maintenance workers.
- Communicate with internal customers, support groups and vendors.
- Budgeting - assist with the development of a maintenance budget; learn what background work is required and develop software tools as required.
- Develop spreadsheets and databases to assist the Planning group.
- Manage projects as they arise - e.g. facility changes / moves.
Qualification Requirements
- Qualified candidates will be senior level students in the mechanical engineering degree program; students in electrical engineering degree programs will be considered;
- Prior industry experience is an asset;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Motivated, self starter who can work well independently or within a team environment, and;
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and other MS office applications.
