Execution Manager (Turnaround),
Our client is a major oilsands operating company with several major projects currently underway.
 
An opportunity is available for a: Senior Execution Manager (Turnaround).
 
PURPOSE OF JOB ASSIGNMENT:
  • To ensure that the works during the Turnaround within the area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the plan and all relevant standards and legislated requirements.
  • To manage execution personnel within area of responsibility and ensure a productive, efficient workforce.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Participate in safety plans
  • Provide guidance to Execution Managers
  • Manage Shared Services personnel to ensure time is efficient and productive Pre-Turnaround
  • Prepare the Turnaround Execution Manual
  • Manage the development of execution procedures
  • Participate in the evaluation of tenders for Turnaround Contracts
  • Manage all Shared Services functions required for the execution of the turnaround.
  • Ensure that Shared Services functions are planning for 36 hours ahead
  • Provide a point of problem resolution for Shared Services Functions.
  • Analyze execution progress and seek out and implement ways to optimize the execution of the works
  • Escalate issues affecting safety and progress or cost in line with agreed Turnaround guidelines, particularly as they relate to the Shared Services Functions.
  • Ensure that works are completed in accordance with the schedule
  • Ensure that future works are ready and planned to meet the needs of the execution team
  • Key liaison point with ACFT Manager to ensure that Shared Services is aligned with execution and nees.
  • Liaise with support function managers to ensure required resources, materials and equipment are appropriately staged for and available at the time of execution of the works. Post Turnaround
  • Participate in lessons learned reviews to ensure that any issues arising during the event are captured and able to be addressed for future events.
  • Manage services for post turnaround work and ensure that focus is maintained on completion of all scopes.
  • Participate in assessment of Contractor performance 
  • Report, initiate, recommend or provide solutions for problems (or improvements) so identified. As far as practicable these solutions should promote consistent policies and procedures across the operating area.
  • Verify actions to resolve problems identified are effective.
  • Control activities and processes in which deficiencies have been identified until corrected.
 
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Accountable for the effective and efficient planning and execution of Turnaround works
 
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The incumbent will have key working relationships with the Turnaround Director, Turnaround Manager, Area CFT Manager, Operations Manager, Execution Managers, General Contractors and functional support managers, including, but not limited to the Manager Technical Support, Manager EHS, SCM Lead, Chief Planner, Manager Controls, Manager Labour Relations
 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Formal Education - Formal education in an engineering or heavy industrial discipline is an advantage, though not mandatory
 
Professional Designation. Not required
 
Experience
  • Suitable management experience leading a multi-disciplined team in a Turnaround or Project environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an Execution management environment
  • A demonstrable track record in successful turnaround or project execution
  • Proven people management skills in a high pressure environment
