Pressure Vessel Welder
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: To be negotiated, As per collective agreement
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta (1 vacancy)
 
Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Welder Trade Certification, Welder Red Seal Endorsement, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, WHMIS Certificate, Pressure Welding Certification
Experience: No experience
  • Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
  • Major Work Area: Maintenance/repair, New fabrication
  • Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Industrial
  • Area of Specialization: Pressure vessels, Large diameter pipelines
  • Welding Techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) (MIG), Flux core arc welding (FCAW), Plasma arc welding (PAW), Spool, Vessel
  • Welding Positions: All positions
  • Materials: Steel, iron and heavy metals, Composite materials
  • Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Specific Skills: Interpret welding process specifications, Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment, Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment, Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines, Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC), Select filler rods, Operate hoisting and lifting equipment, Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding, Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line
  • Additional Skills: Instruct apprentices, Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes, Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
  • Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods
