Geologist
Based in Calgary, you will work with a small multi-disciplinary project team, including engineers, and other geoscientists to provide technical and economic analyses to support the development of [Company]’s Thermal SAGD Projects.
Primary responsibilities for this position will be:
- Perform geological study and interpretation based on log, core analysis data.
- Interpret clastic facies and develop depositional models.
- Generate isopach maps, structure maps as well as cross section.
- Work closely with other upstream cross-functional team members in SAGD well placement, delineation and exploration drilling efforts.
- Provide management input and support on land acquisition and Joint Venture.
- Address any geological issues requested by the Board, partners, and consultants if required
- Develop short and long range exploitation plan in an assigned area.
- Liaison with reserves auditors and help compile annual reserves report.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, and
- Registered or eligible to register with a member of APEGGA.
- 5 plus experience in the Western Canadian sedimentary basin with Calgary-based oil/gas producers
- Good understanding of heavy oil exploration and development, especially oilsands.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with geology and office business software.
- Excellent mapping skills
- Previous Athabasca oilsands experiences would be an asset.
- Experience on building 3D model would be an asset
