Spare Parts Analyst
Description
Reporting to the Team Leader - Planning & Scheduling, this position will be responsible for assisting the Spare Parts Coordinator with the Spare Parts Program of the Bitumen Production facility.
 
Specifically responsible for:
  • Initially working within the guidelines of the spare parts development strategy and plan. (short term)
  • SCM liaison for BP Production Maintenance. (long term)
  • This position has no direct reports.
 
Accountabilities
  • Support Maintenance Excellence within the Bitumen Production organization.
  • Timely and accurate selection and acquisition of spare parts to meet availability targets.
  • Define levels of required spare parts inventory and ensure availability, taking lead times into account.
  • Will work closely with the EPCs to ensure accurate flow of information to BP Mtce. for spare parts decisions.
  • Works with the BP Ops group to establish criticality and spare parts priorities.
  • Will respond to Capital Spare recommendations incoming from the EPCs and ensure timely approval.
  • Works within systems and processes to guide the Operating spare parts selection and requisitioning.
  • Works within a system for tracking and logging spare parts decisions.
  • Works closely with SCM to ensure orders, expediting, warehousing and preservation of spare parts.
  • Establishes ROP & ROQ jointly with SCM. Determines optimum means to stock spare parts internally or externally.
  • Maintains close compliance to schedule and costs. Communicates regularly and takes action with deviations.
  • Works closely with Business Architecture to ensure a reliable and accurate means to upload spare parts information to SAP.
  • Evaluate existing systems and workflow problems, and propose suitable solutions based upon functional and economic considerations.
  • Forecast demand for spare parts and upgrades and develop reports
  • Analyze historical data of spare parts consumption and develop action plans.
  • Identify obsolete materials and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Manage spare parts returns.
  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the spare parts database.
 
Capability Requirements
  • Intermediate maintenance professional with 10+ yrs of progressive experience in heavy or processing industries.
  • Trades, technical or engineering background.
  • Collect data, make analysis and presentations.
  • Experience in spare parts management would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in start-up of new processing facilities.
  • Sound understanding of operating environments and business drivers.
  • Resourceful in executing maintenance projects within tight time constraints and at lowest possible cost.

  • Track record of innovation applied in a practical manner
  • Ability to interface effectively with a large and varied group.
  • Able to make tough decisions in areas where the data is uncertain or not fully available
  • Experienced in building strong relationships with various parties
  • Ability to obtain high level performance results within a tight time frame and within budget.
Additional Information
Initially located in Calgary till Q4 2009. Long term the position will move to Fort McMurray with office located at Fort Hills site.
