Design / Drafting Technologist - Lloydminster Refinery
Our Lloydminster Refinery Engineering team is looking for a professional and highly motivated Designer/Drafting Technologist.
Our ideal candidate will play an integral role in the design of multi-disciplinary projects and provide technical drafting design support to the plant site.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Piping/Mechanical design and drafting of capital projects.
- Electrical and instrumentation design and drafting of smaller capital projects.
- Fieldwork at the refinery consisting of mechanical equipment and piping layouts, field checking, as-building and scoping work.
- Document control of drawings and files.
- Updating equipment databases.
- Supporting engineering in the design, communication, procurement, implementation and commissioning of projects.
- Provide technical support to plant maintenance work activities.
- Planning and scheduling of workload.

Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Technical Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or related post-secondary education.
- Previous mechanical/piping experience within the petroleum industry.
- Experience with computer systems, plotting, scanning, Raster Design, AutoORTHO and AutoCAD would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B31.3 design codes.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel are required.
- Proven skills in effectively managing multiple tasks and changing priorities, often under pressure and within time constraints.
- Excellent team player with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Capable of learning, assimilating and applying new job-related information in a timely manner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
This position requires the incumbent to operate a vehicle for which a valid driver’s license is required. The final candidate will be required to provide a recent (ie. issued within previous 4 weeks) original driver’s abstract for a 5 year period, prior to starting work with us, for review by our Health and Safety group.
This is a safety sensitive role and as such you will also be required to pass the Company’s pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
