Maintenance Lead
This position is located in Fort McMurray and the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Fort McMurray area.

This is a Fort McMurray based position; therefore relocation is required. We offer highly competitive housing/rental assistance programs to all successful candidates.
 
Provides Nexen technical and supervisory support for all maintenance activities affecting Long Lake facilities.  Directs contractor and staff maintenance personnel. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Cost management against established budgets;
  • Jointly accountable in cooperation with the Maintenance and General Services Supervisor for all execution of emergency and planned maintenance activities including turnarounds and reliability concerns;
  • Safety and environmental compliance following Long Lake SESR policies and practices;
  • Mentorship of junior employees, trainees and trades people;
  • Lead and direct work of staff and contract Maintenance Technicians and support groups;
  • Check the progress and quality of work being performed;
  • Investigate the causes of equipment failures and recommend action to eliminate similar failures;
  • Perform work of a critical nature such as final checks or operations involving hazardous conditions;
  • Train technicians in skills necessary to improve efficiency;
  • Review inventory levels associated with the Mechanical Section;
  • Ensure that shop tools are operating properly. 
Qualifications 
  • Graduate of a recognized Technical School;
  • Journeyman, Millwright or other hand trades;
  • Prefer minimum of 7 years experience in Mechanical trade with at least 3 years as a Lead Hand position;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all mechanical operations involving plant equipment  or similar equipment;
  • Must display excellent leadership skills with emphasis on Training and Development;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Adaptability/Managing Change: Ability to embrace new technologies, meet emerging market demands, respond effectively to changing conditions, apply continuous improvement techniques and create new business opportunities;
  • Communication: Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles; ability to secure information, listen effectively and get messages across that have the desired effect;
