We are currently looking for an ambitious Safety Officer to join our Fort McMurray, Alberta team who is dedicated, energetic, outgoing and detail oriented.
 
Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, the duties of the Safety Officer will include the following:
  • Safety
  • Radiation Safety
  • Risk Management
  • Management
  • Including:
  • Promote safety awareness and a safety culture
  • Training and development
  • Program development and delivery
  • Inspections and audits
  • Policies and process implementation and development
  • Investigations
  • Coaching and mentoring technicians in safety awareness.
  • Daily and weekly reports
  • Attendance at all local and corporate sponsored safety events.
  • Provide emergency contact 7 days per week, 24 hours per day through cell phone.
Minimum Requirements
  • Full-time "local" employee of Acuren's Fort McMurray Business Unit.
  • Min. 5 years experience.
  • Min. 2 years as a safety manager.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, recommended practices, procedures, and best practices concerning safety.
  • Applicable industry knowledge to perform the duties of Safety Officer (reviewed on a site-by-site basis).
  • CSO Certification.
  • National Safety Counsel or other professional construction safety or safety management training.
  • Workers' Compensation claims management experience.
  • Must have excellent time management, interpersonal, computer and project management skills.
  • Valid drivers' license.
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background screening.

  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written ad verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform under the pressure.
  • Maintain good working relationships with both internal and external clients by promoting an environment or responsive service and frequent communication.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing and growing environment.
  • Mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Willingness to travel.
