Ultrasonic Tech Level I
We are currently looking for dedicated, energetic, outgoing and detail oriented candidates for opportunities as Certified Ultrasonic Examination Level I Technicians.
Essential Job Functions
- To perform ultrasonic testing on both new construction and in-service equipment to determine thickness or in support of a level two technician to assess weld quality and size defects.
- Ensure that the Company technical procedure UT-0017 (general procedure for ultrasonic examination) is read and understood. A register will be signed to acknowledge that you have read and understood this technical procedure and that you will work according to it.
- Ensure that the ultrasonic inspection equipment that you use is within the required calibration dates.
- During examination of a part for thickness you will report the thickness readings as directed by the client or Company site supervisor in a format that is acceptable for the specific client. In the case of weld examination you will detect, measure, mark out and record all relevant indications. These indications shall be reported on a ultrasonic examination form. The acceptance/rejection criteria shall be in accordance with the client designated acceptance criteria.
Minimum Requirements
- Certification to CGSB UT Level I E or if approved by the client SNT Level I.
- Good working knowledge of ASME V and Acuren SNT NDT procedures. An orientation to the Company’s specific procedures will be conducted for all new hires.
- Familiarity with codes of construction including but not limited to ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, CSA W59, ASME VIII, ASME I, and CSA Z662. In the case where thickness readings are being reported for client information, it is essential that the specific client requirements are understood.
