Water Quality Technician
Job Responsibilities
The individual will learn test methods and laboratory operations relating to analysis of samples for water quality assessments.  They will initially assist then become a primary technician for co-ordinating work.  The individual will also provide technical support to clients for sample collection and interpretation of test results.
 
The individual will be responsible for preparation of media and reagents; sample sign-in; running analyses; interpreting data; new method development; report writing; other laboratory duties as required.
 
Job Requirements
  • B.Sc. Biology / Microbiology / Environmental Science
  • One year’s work in a laboratory environment.  Previous field work would be an asset, in addition to experience working with microscopes.
  • General biology, ecology, limnology, microbiology.
  • Works well in teams and independently; detail-oriented; good interpersonal communication skills; organized; effective workload and time management; demonstrates flexibility; maintains accurate and detailed records; exercises initiative; ability to multi-task
