Soil / Reclamation Scientist - Intermediate
Job Responsibilities
A Soil / Reclamation Scientist is required to join our team of Soil Scientists in our Fort McMurry office.
The successful candidate will:
- Participate in and coordinate a variety of mining, oil and gas and land development reclamation projects.
- Prepare the analysis and interpretation of data and the preparation of reports and recommendations for clients.
- Manage projects or components of large projects
This position will initially involve working under the supervision of senior team members, with the opportunity to assume increasing autonomy and responsibility.
Job Requirements
We are a strong advocate of the team approach to undertaking projects and problem solving. Accordingly, the candidate will be expected to interface with and work in multi-disciplinary teams in which the contribution of each member is valued.
The successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- University degree(s) in soil science or reclamation; M.Sc. preferred
- Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in soil science and reclamation
- Experience in environmental consulting
- Demonstrate field soil mapping expertise.
- Exhibit strong communications and writing skills.
- Experience preparing technical reports such as Conservation and Reclamation Plans as well as baseline and environmental impact assessments.
In addition, it would be beneficial for the successful candidate to possess the following:
- Have detailed knowledge of reclamation.
- Have experience in co-ordinating and coaching junior staff.
- Participate in client development.
