Buyer Assistant
Accountabilities
Source, price and purchase all aspects of supply chain: materials; service subcontractors; consumables; small tools; minor equipment rentals; heavy and light equipment, associated parts and services within service level definitions.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Obtain competitive pricing to meet customer requirements through corporate policies and procedures and best practices.
  • Manage the purchase order processes as required, as well as report, track and expedite open (standing) purchase orders.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relations to enhance NEAPI Group’s position
  • Arrange shipping logistics/terms and clearances.
  • Liaison with supplier and business unit representatives to ensure goods and services meet quality standards and on time.
  • Assist the Buyers within procurement function through the placement of orders, supplier relationships, and quotation evaluations.
  • Deliver a high standard of internal customer service to business unit representatives.
  • Work with the various business units to help investigate and resolve any problematic issues with purchase order commitments and supplier invoices.
Skill/ Experience/ Attributes:
  • Post secondary education related to procurement, minimum of three years experience relating to procurement, and enrolled in a PMAC professional development program or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with computerized purchasing system and intermediate to advanced skills with business software applications.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to influence others in a positive manner
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office, MRP and other purchasing software.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational & research skills while working within stringent timelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently.
  • Knowledge in JD Edwards ERP systems would be an asset.
