Buyer
Reporting to the Manager of Materials Management you will set up new purchase orders as required, as well as report track and follow up on open (standing) purchase orders.
Accountabilities:
Source, price and purchase all aspects of supply chain: materials; service subcontractors; consumables; small tools; minor equipment rentals; heavy and light equipment, associated parts and services within service level definitions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective vendor relations to enhance North American Construction Group’s position.
- Arrange shipping logistics/terms and clearances.
- Utilize quotation process and procedures where applicable.
- Utilize knowledge of purchasing functions, policies, and procedures to ensure the procurement group is operating effectively.
- Investigate and resolve any problematic issues with purchase orders and vendor invoices.
- Manage daily procurement of goods and services
- Ensure proper use of PPE where applicable.
- Assist with support and direction for all support staff.
- Assist with inventory maintenance and non-stock inventories.
- Advise procurement manager of any procurement deficiencies or unsafe work environments.
- Attend daily PSI’s and weekly safety meetings as required.
Skill/ Experience/ Attributes:
- Post secondary education or equivalent experience relating to procurement.
- Minimum three years experience relating purchasing.
- Industrial construction and/or mining experience preferred.
- Superior negotiation skills with the ability to influence others in a positive manner.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational & research skills while working within stringent timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer proficiency, including MS office, MRP and other purchasing software.
