Civil Engineer Intern

We specialize in large, complex, integrated industrial/mechanical/electrical projects. Our projects involve construction of oil sands processing facilities, refinery expansions, gas plant expansions, co-generation facilities, major mine developments, spool fabrication facilities and SAGD facilities.
 
Responsibilities 
  • This hourly position reports to a Field Engineer and performs assignment specific engineering and construction management duties to execute the work. 
  • These duties  may include any combination of the following:  material takeoffs; estimating; scheduling; work plan development; tracking of quantities and costs; coordination between engineering and construction activities; subcontract and material contract management; material receipt inspections; participation in daily safety tours and tool box meetings; update trend charts and progress curves; purchasing, expediting and coordination of materials; and working knowledge of quality control procedures relating to construction activities. 
Qualifications 
  • Enrollment in degree/diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. 
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
  • The ability to travel and relocate as required.
