Project Finance Lead
To complement our growth plans, we are looking for highly accomplished senior personnel focusing on the energy industry. While the requirements for specific positions vary, it is important that you have a sound technical knowledge in your area of expertise, desire working in a fast paced entrepreneurial organization, and have demonstrated experience in finding innovative solutions and solving complex, unique engineering challenges.
Project Finance Lead
Responsibilities
- Work with the project controls manager to plan, estimate, and control costs on major SAGD Heavy Oil projects;
- Direct a team of project controls analysts to manage and monitor project progress, track man-hours, and workflows;
- Ensure the project team adheres to project control’s standards and procedures;
- Assist with translation of the estimate into a control budget and ensure accurate and timely monitoring of commitments, incurred and actual costs and variances through all phases of the project;
- At project completion, compile the final Project Controls input to the project closeout report and project cost metrics;
- Ensure accurate and timely cash flow forecasting and reporting to client finance and project teams;
Work involves
- assistance with capital cost estimation, budgeting and forecasting;
- accurate financial control, analysis of drivers, and timely reporting;
- understanding client reporting requirements and drive process improvements to meet or exceed client expectations;
- acting as liaison to project managers in support of project planning and reporting requirements;
- complete ownership and autonomy of work product, output and recommendations;
- Close interaction with client’s Corporate Finance teams and Project Managers.
Since Vista is growing and is taking on diverse projects, there will be significant exposure to other areas of project management and project control.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Graduate degree in a related field (Commerce, Engineering, or similar); preference for a focus on Finance and Accounting disciplines with recognized designations (PMP, CMA, MBA, CFA etc.);
- 8-12 years of financial analysis experience with significant experience in project controls for large-cap projects;
- Strong understanding of project cost control fundamentals with superior analytical skills and expertise in financial analysis, modeling, and budgeting methodologies;
- Advanced MS Excel skills to successfully analyze and interpret data;
- Quality focused with acute attention to detail;
- Strong communication and influencing skills;
- This is a key project leadership role where the ability to manage, motivate and mentor is a must.
