Senior Heavy Oil Geologist
My client, a privately owned parent company of a unique and diverse group of companies, due to continued, planned strategic expansion requires a highly experienced and high caliber Senior Heavy Oil Geologist for its Calgary operations. Principal duties will include:
- The development sound facies interpretation and geological models required for thermal reservoir studies and simulations.
- Provision of geological expertise for in-situ oil sands projects including, appraising and coordination of large delineation drilling programs, including coring and logging, programs, managing and orchestrating core logging and data capture and integration geological information into geological model and mapping.
- The assessment of depositional environments and lateral change in facies to asses the impact of thermal operations.
- Planning of stratigraphic drilling programs and work closely with other technical staff on planning and expediting of the drilling program.
You will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree and ideally a Master's degree Geology.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience including experience with insitu/SAGD Oil Sands projects.
- Strong understanding of Oil Sands core and log analysis.
- Experience logging clastic core.
- Expertise in clastic facies interpretation and development of depositional models.
- A background in building geological models using computer applications.
- Strong project management experience.
- Ability to work within a small team environment.
