Drilling Engineering Technician - Oil Sands

Description:
Reporting to the Oil Sands Drilling Engineering Team Lead, this position is located in Calgary, Alberta and is responsible for providing engineering support to Oil Sands Drilling Engineers.
Responsibilities:
Primary duties will include but not be limited to:
- Assist the Drilling Engineers in providing complete and thorough drilling offset research to identify in advance any potential drilling problems (may lead depending on area complexity);
- Develop and maintain a common network directory for storing offset research for the Oil Sands Drilling Team;
- Compile information for problem area maps to identify issues that occurred in offset wells;
- Working from existing delineation drilling program templates, prepare drilling programs and stick diagrams.
- Assist in completing cost estimates and supplemental cost estimates;
- Assisting in completing surface casing check sheets and ground water database searches;
- Ensuring that all Operated and Non-Operated information is captured and filed in the MDS system;
- Assist Drilling Engineers in preparation of drilling programs and stick diagrams;
- Compile drilling data and analyze to assist Drilling Engineers in optimizing wells, post well reviews and End of Well Reports in WellView;
- Provide assistance in special projects and data analysis;
- Prepare Monday Morning Manager Report;
- Retrieve and provide cost data from WellView and SAP so that it can be analyzed, and;
- Assist Drilling Engineers in creating quarterly reviews.
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications:
- Upstream Petroleum Certificate;
- 3-5 years of industry experience preferred;
- Proficient in WellView;
- Proficient in all MS Office programs
- Legally permitted to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge in licensing and government reporting.
- Good government liaison skills.
- Strong team player;
- Strong organization skills;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Basic knowledge of ERCB guidelines would be an asset.
