Mineral Processing / Metallurgical Project Managers

We have the following opportunities in our Minerals Group based out of the several Canadian locations (Vancouver, Toronto, or Lakefield, Ontario near Peterborough).
 
Primary Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the co-ordination, scheduling and activities of area-operations and of employees engaged in the operation of multi-function mineral processing equipment, circuits and pilot plant programs.  In addition to fulfilling technical or operational responsibilities, this position may schedule, supervise and coordinate the activities of personnel, assigning and monitoring work.  The incumbent is responsible for client relationship / communication and meeting client requirements for a successful project.
 
Specific responsibilities
  • Establishing and understanding a clients needs and objectives for a successful project or campaign.
  • Implementing and carrying out all the planning, scheduling and co-ordination required to execute a project or campaign.
  • Communicating routinely and thoroughly with clients, peers and sub-ordinates involved in pilot plant programs.
  • Compiling and analyzing test data to ensure operating efficiency of equipment and processes; recommending and making adjustments as required.
  • Co-ordinating and overseeing the set-up of machinery, equipment and pilot plant circuits.
  • Carrying out pilot plant project planning and coordination including Hazops, technical protocols, sample planning and technical training of technicians.
Reporting to
Group Leader or Manager
 
Skills
  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in metallurgy, materials, or chemical engineering with eligibility for P.E.O registration preferred.
  • Candidates should have at least 5 years experience working in mineral processing or metallurgy, preferably with project and in-plant experience.
  • A proven track record in project management, commercial flow-sheet development or production management is needed, with mineral processing expertise in gold, PGM, and base metals, preferred.
  • The ability to manage technical staff and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment is essential.
  • Previous experience in a consulting function with cost center responsibility would be beneficial.
  • Candidates must possess excellent written and oral skills and be proficient in using business software (including MS Word & Excel).
