Construction Manager
Position Summary
Reporting to a Project Manager, the Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring constructability, quality and safety during the execution of the construction of the Horizon Oil Sands Project.
Several opportunities currently available:
Utilities and Offsites (Piperacks/Electrical) and Upgrading
Specific accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Plan and organize the construction of the Horizon Oil Sands Project from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget;
- Assist in the preparation of construction budget estimates;
- Assist in the preparation of construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules;
- Assist in the preparation of contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with suppliers and subcontractors;
- Develop and implement quality control programs;
- Prepare progress reports and issues progress schedules;
- Review detailed construction work packages for integration with engineering, procurement and construction; and
- Direct the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
Employment Requirements:
- Preferably an engineering degree in civil engineering, construction management or relative field with Provincial registration in Alberta or eligibility for registration.
- 10 years of construction management experience, preferably in oil sands, refineries, oil and gas plants and/or large construction projects.
- previous experience working with and directing large or International Contractors/EPC firms as well as experience working in a Northern environment is preferred
- excellent communication skills and proven analytical ability
- problem solving skills allow you to consider the details and complexities of issues,
- diverse knowledge gained through hands-on experience of construction management is preferred.
