Construction Manager
Position Summary
Reporting to a Project Manager, the Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring constructability, quality and safety during the execution of the construction of the Horizon Oil Sands Project.
 
Several opportunities currently available:
 
Utilities and Offsites (Piperacks/Electrical) and Upgrading
 
Specific accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Plan and organize the construction of the Horizon Oil Sands Project from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget;
  • Assist in the preparation of construction budget estimates;
  • Assist in the preparation of construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules;
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with suppliers and subcontractors;
  • Develop and implement quality control programs;
  • Prepare progress reports and issues progress schedules;
  • Review detailed construction work packages for integration with engineering, procurement and construction; and
  • Direct the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.
 
Employment Requirements:
  • Preferably an engineering degree in civil engineering, construction management or relative field with Provincial registration in Alberta or eligibility for registration.
  • 10 years of construction management experience, preferably in oil sands, refineries, oil and gas plants and/or large construction projects.
  • previous experience working with and directing large or International Contractors/EPC firms as well as experience working in a Northern environment is preferred
  • excellent communication skills and proven analytical ability
  • problem solving skills allow you to consider the details and complexities of issues,
  • diverse knowledge gained through hands-on experience of construction management is preferred.
