Well Integrity Engineer - SAGD, Domestic
The Well Integrity Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity of all SAGD wells and that they meet all applicable regulatory requirements. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the overall basis for design of wells for the Synthetic Crude Project (SAGD, Core Wells, Observation Wells, and Water Source/Disposal Wells) are fit for purpose.
 
Significant SAGD drilling and completions engineering experience is a key requirement for this position. Although this is a Calgary-based position, occasional field trips to Fort McMurray may be required.
 
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the integrity of all permanent wellbore equipment/materials for high temperature thermal operations (casing design, connection qualifications, liner slotting design, cement design);
  • Ensure drilling and completions designs, including wellhead equipment all meets basis of design requirements and are fit for purpose;
  • Develop Quality Control Plans (QCPs) for all OCTG tubular orders and liner slotting;
  • Develop a comprehensive Well Integrity document for the SAGD project. Ensure the document is updated with industry and internal learnings;
  • Assist in design and planning of steam chamber observation wells;
  • Participate in Joint Industry Projects and workshops dealing with material specification and integrity for thermal application;
  • Ensure that the well design for core and water source/disposal wells meets regulatory standards;
  • Review and resolve any well integrity audit requirements from ERCB.
 
General Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with our Well Management System and Well Delivery Process;
  • Ensure timely and continuous interaction with other Drilling & Completions team members and the various asset-team discipline groups to ensure overall project objectives are met;
  • Assist with researching potential well integrity and design initiatives;
  • Assist with generating and distributing final project reports. Where appropriate, write SPE paper on project.
 
SESR (Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility) Responsibilities:
  • Participate in our  Oil & Gas Division CARE program by writing a CARE statement that reflects personal commitment to SESR improvement initiatives.
 
Education/Experience Requirements:
  • The Well Integrity Engineer is a graduate of an accredited engineering/ technology school with 10 or more years of oilfield experience. Through education and experience the Well Integrity Engineer has a full understanding of well design practices.
