Albian Sands is a part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP). The AOSP is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 %), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). The AOSP consists of the Muskeg River Mine north of Fort McMurray, the Scotford Upgrader near Edmonton and all supporting facilities such as pipelines and a cogeneration plant. As majority owner, Shell is the overall project administrator as well as operator of the Scotford Upgrader. Albian Sands Energy Inc., a company created by the joint venture, operates the Muskeg River Mine. As majority owner, Shell is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of Albian Sands.
Albian Sands is currently seeking a Senior Planner Light Vehicle & Auxiliary Equipment for the Muskeg River Mine.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Auxiliary Equipment / Light Vehicle Maintenance Manager, the Auxiliary Equipment Senior Planner is responsible for the development, implementation and management of preventative maintenance and repairs for Auxiliary Support equipment.
- Key Challenges:
- Ensure adherence to safety, health & environmental regulations, policies and procedures.
- Provides work scope planning and parts for daily, weekly and long-term maintenance to ensure goals are achievable within the allotted time frame.
- Liaise with the operations department to ensure equipment is ready to meet the maintenance plan.
- Manages area warehouse stock levels and focuses on vendors quality and service to provide the optimum lead-time for maintenance plans.
- Development of preventive maintenance program based upon manufacturers specifications and site specific use.
- Assist/Advise in the procurement of equipment
- Provide analysis of commercial terms as they relate to procurement decisions.
- Implement the maintenance program using the J.D.Edwards CMMS.
- Analyze repair costs, report to and make recommendations to management regarding areas of concern.
- Provide direction and schedule to employee(s)/contractor(s) regarding equipment maintenance requirements.
- Recommend changes in procedure or methods to contractors to facilitate a continuous improvement program
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- College diploma or journeyman certification, equivalency will be considered
- 5+ Years general office management, with emphasis upon planning/scheduling in a maintenance environment preferably heavy industry
- Technical knowledge of heavy or light equipment
- Some college level coursework
- Attendance at business/office skills educational environment
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining preventative maintenance programe is preferable
- Budget preparation/review
- Computer based maintenance management systems experience
- Time management
- Vehicle maintenance and recordkeeping
- Experience in procurement would be considered an asset
- Analytical skills in the areas of:
- planning/scheduling
- contracts compliance
- strategy and budget
- J.D. Edward CMMS
- PC Based skills in word processing/financial spreadsheets, power point, visio etc
- Attention to detail
- Teamwork abilities
- Physical Effort:
- Operation of light vehicles
- Lifting to 35 lbs
- On-Call availability
- Regular field inspection work
- Physical Environment:
- Weather exposure from +30C to -50-C
- Exposure to hazardous conditions in and around mine site
- Exposure to hazardous conditions in and around workshops
- Exposure to hazardous materials typically used in the mine site
- Sensory Attention:
- Exceptional attention to detail required
- Extended exposure to computer based duties
- This position typically exposes the candidate to a high level of stress with regard to the coordination/communication with all departments in the scheduling and planning of the work as defined in the scope of the maintenance programs as well as contract compliance activities and they relate to budgetary constraints.
