Process Engineer

Shell Canada is currently seeking Process Engineer, Scotford Refinery
 
Responsibilities:
  • As a member of the Hydrocarbon Management Team at the Shell Scotford Refinery, the Process Engineers are responsible for:
  • Process monitoring and optimization of process units
  • Energy management and optimization
  • Contributing to optimal refinery unit operation with respect to environmental emissions, process safety and product quality.
  • Catalyst management
  • Profitability enhancement initiatives  
  • Jointly responsible with the Business Group for business tools such as LP models    
  • Capital project development up to scoping studies    
  • Technical assistance to Operations   
  • Troubleshooting of medium and long term process problems    
  • Technical assistance to maintenance in preparation for and during turnarounds    
  • Review of capital project and Management of Change proposals.
 
Requirements:
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor in Chemical Engineering
  • Five or more years in a Process Engineering role in a refinery or chemical plant.
  • APEGGA member or the ability to obtain P. Eng. designation within one year
  • fluent english
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-discipline team environment consisting of Process Engineering, Operations, Engineering, Process Control, Business, Projects and Maintenance, in order to optimally meet and exceed Safety, Environmental, Reliability Energy and Economic targets for the refinery.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and clients.
  • Ability to develop, articulate and lead a case for change.
  • Ability to determine improvement opportunities and lead those opportunities to successful completion.
  • Deal effectively with a diverse workforce in an open and honest manner
  • Strong Process Engineering skills including Distillation, Heat Transfer, Fluid flow, and catalytic reactions.
  • Experience and skill in using and developing process simulation models.
  • Strong issue and incident investigation skills and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and Process Engineering obligations in an industrial environment including change management (MOC) work processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business and economic drivers in a refinery.
  • Knowledge of Linear Programming (LP) models would be an asset
