Project Engineer/Coordinator - Upstream Operations - Integrated Oil Division

The Integrated Oil Division (IOD) has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Project Engineer/Coordinator to contribute their technical and project management skills to the Foster Creek Specialty Projects Team.
 
The successful candidate will have demonstrated project management and superior communication and interpersonal skills.

IOD focuses on in-situ oilsands development with facilities at Foster Creek, Christina Lake, Alberta and Senlac, Saskatchewan. The Division is a leader in thermal production through continuous improvement in advancing and applying technology, executing the construction of new facilities on budget and on schedule, reducing operating costs, and operating facilities in a safe, efficient and compliant manner.
The Foster Creek Specialty Projects Team is responsible for the development, planning and execution of projects associated with existing facility modification and optimization as well as the implementation of new facilities associated with technology research and development applications.

Duties and Responsibilities
•manage the development and execution of multiple projects
•coordinate the development of project scope and execution with Operations and Project Sponsors
•ensure Design Base Memorandum (DBM) is prepared, reviewed, approved, and subsequently kept up-to-date
•coordinate project specific regulatory activities, engineering activities, procurement activities, contracting activities and construction activities
•coordinate activities of EP firm project teams
•interface with Operations Construction Team (OCT), and EnCana project technical staff
•coordinate and participate actively in project design reviews to ensure buy-in from all project stakeholders and adherence to project goals and constraints
•liaise with other Division groups and teams, such as Regulatory, Reservoir and Development, Drilling and Completions (D&C), and Operations to maximize project success
•ensure that specific projects are executed in accordance with Project Execution Plans, as well as established team policies and methodologies
•prepare and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) / cost control documents
•coordinate preparation and approval of project estimates
•follow defined processes to secure project funding and manage spending to approved funds
•ensure change management processes are adhered to, kept current and communicated to stakeholders throughout the life of all projects
•monitor, report and forecast on project schedules, progress and project costs
•prepare regular summary reports for management review
•recognize, recommend and take responsibility for opportunities for the continuous improvement of project execution with respect to safety, environmental protection, efficiency and quality
•provide mentorship and support to other Project Engineers / Coordinators

Qualifications
•must be legally entitled to work in Canada
•APEGGA Professional Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineer with:
5-7 years of related experience
•or ASET certified Technologist with:
8+ years of related experience
•familiar with thermal recovery facilities and operations, however, power plant (water treatment and steam generation) experience may be considered
•experience with plant construction, commissioning and start-ups
•demonstrated project development and execution management skills
•well developed communication and interpretation skills
•proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
•ability to manage multiple tasks / projects simultaneously in a fast paced project environment
