Crane Operator

Albian Sands is a part of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project (AOSP). The AOSP is a joint venture among Shell Canada Limited (60 %), Chevron Canada Limited (20%) and Marathon Oil Sands L.P (20%). The AOSP consists of the Muskeg River Mine north of Fort McMurray, the Scotford Upgrader near Edmonton and all supporting facilities such as pipelines and a cogeneration plant. As majority owner, Shell is the overall project administrator as well as operator of the Scotford Upgrader. Albian Sands Energy Inc., a company created by the joint venture, operates the Muskeg River Mine. As majority owner, Shell is responsible for the staffing and recruitment of Albian Sands.
Albian Sands is currently seeking a Crane Operator.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill Maintenance activities in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner, by ensuring that all necessary procedures, practices, standards, rules, are documented and followed.
- Ensure that equipment is maintained with maximum efficiency and productivity by initiating corrective action and ensuring maintenance and engineering standards are adhered to.
- Ensure that changes to the plant infrastructure comply with the management of change procedures
- Ensure that human resources policies are followed.
- Ensure that the performance management process is utilized and performance meets the needs of the company and team.
- Key challenges for this position include:
- Maximizing equipment and system availability by determining potential hazards and risks to production and developing/implementing maintenance work plans required to continually improve availability and integrity.
- Maintaining focus on day-to-day short-term requirements while providing input for longer-term growth and continuous improvement.
- Working in multi-disciplined team with diverse skill sets towards the common goals of the department and organization.
- Awareness of costs in an environment that requires constant revision of strategies to meet changing circumstances with respect to production rates, wear rates, technology, and physical plant change
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Journeyman Red Seal Crane Operator or registered apprentice.
- Heavy oil/oil sand/ plant experience.
- Technical qualifications.
- Maintenance analytical troubleshooting skills
- Spoken English – Fluent
- Written English - Good
