Contracts Administrator
Job Description: 
Near Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta, Suncor Energy Inc. Oilsands Operation recovers bitumen from oil sands and upgrades it to refinery-ready feedstock and diesel fuel.
 
Construction is underway for the next phase of oil sands growth, which is expected to deliver production capacity of 350,000 barrels per day in 2008, growing in stages to a goal of up to 550,000 barrels per day in 2010 to 2012 and growth is not expected to stop there. Position Outline:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Supply Chain, the Contracts Administrator is accountable for the management of commercial and legal terms of service contracts.
 
Key Accountabilities:
 
The incumbent shall:
  • Evaluate and award new work under administered contracts
  • Steward contractor relationships
  • Negotiate claims and mediate contract disputes
  • Perform selective audits of invoicing to ensure contract terms are met
  • Lead construction progress meetings
  • Manage the extension or closure of contracts
  • Provide contract interpretation for Suncor employees directing the contractor's work
  • Provide progress reporting for contracts being administered
  • Maintains hard copy and electronic contact administration files
  • Educate field coordinators on contract terms and conditions
  • Works with PPM and project stakeholders to develop contracting plans, co-ordinate and communicate with various project stakeholders the timely delivery of their responsibilities / deliverables required for contract formation
  • Makes decisions within established guidelines. Determines courses of action as defined within procedural guidelines and contracts.
  • Provides direction and skills transfer for more junior SCM staff.
 
Qualification Requirements:
  • Post secondary education preferably in Business Administration.
  • A minimum of five years experience in contract administration is preferred.
  • Applicants must have good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A sound knowledge of MS Office Professional Suite and/or other software programs is required;
  • Construction contract experience is preferred.
